Citroen and Peugeot cars with a particulate filter in the exhaust system
Some late Citroen and Peugeot cars have a particulate filter in the exhaust system. This system uses an additive oil called Eolys or AD Blue, which has a separate tank. Periodically the tank needs to be topped up with these oils and some can take up to 5 litres. Some vehicles then need the ECU to be reset on the laptop. Your late Citroen and Peugeot may need this carrying out. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask one of our service assistants, who will talk you through this procedure.
Diagnostic Equipment
The modern garage requires diagnostic equipment. Servicing and repairing Citroen Peugeot cars we feel it is necessary not only to invest in the latest diagnostic equipment on the market but to equip the garage with the same style of software as main Citroën Peugeot dealers. The Citroën Lexia and Peugeot Planet are more than capable of reading, programming and activating all manner of faults.
Puretech Engines
In recent months we have had a number of vehicles fitted with the Pure tech engine with belt failure and the belt breaking up. The common fault is the timing belt (which runs in oil) begins to swell, crack & breakup causing contamination in the oil. This then works it’s way through the oil system and blocking the oil strainer or other vital components. This can then lead to major engine work or more! After changing the belt and replacing the oil with the correct grade and spec whilst also cleaning the necessary components, the cars are on their way again relatively quickly. It is evidently, extremely important that these engines are run on the correct grade and spec of oil as this is known to be the cause of the belt to degrade.
We Recommend timing belt replacement every 6 years or 60,000 miles. Whichever comes first. Call us on 01462 455280 if your Pure tech requires a new timing belt soon.





Citroen C4 Picasso
We are finding a lot of customers with C4 Picasso’s are beginning to have similar faults and issues. One of the more common faults is an issue with the rear suspension. Some C4 Picasso’s have rear suspension air bags that help adjust the height and ride of the car. Some customers have called up explaining that the car is sitting low at the rear and not pumping up on first start up. The most common fault to this is the rear suspension air bags themselves. Over time they beginning to perish and little holes form, the bigger the holes get the more the compressor has to work to pump them up. Left too long and you may run the risk of wearing the compressor out as well.
We have replaced a number of the rear suspension air bags but there is now the option of changing these to rear springs instead, we are finding that some of our customers are thinking about this as a more permanent fixture. Your insurance company should be advised.
The C4 Picasso also suffers from leaking injector seals. We recommend replacing all seals for all injectors at the same time. There is a risk though. If the injector is seized and troublesome to remove it could require one or more injectors. Before fitting new seals we clean the surfaces where the injector sits to make sure the washer is sitting in a clean flat surface.
Lastly, turbo’s. The bearings wear out, they leak oil and can leak fumes that can enter the cabin resulting in a new turbo and oil feed pipe kit.
